THE INSPIRATION BEHIND FREEDOM CROSSES USA
Dear Fellow Americans:
I wish to share with you what inspired me to create Freedom Crosses USA. Over the last few years, I have become deeply concerned about the denial of any reference to God or prayer in our public institutions, as well as the dwindling visible symbols of Christian beliefs in our country. I am sure there are many other Americans who feel the same way. It is time that patriotic Americans and Christians take a stand to demonstrate our love of country and our faith and belief in God to the world before our freedoms are further challenged.
In my daily prayers, I have been asking God to use me in a meaningful way to help restore honor to our great nation and to preserve our cherished freedoms. On August 28, 2010, I attended Glenn Beck's Restoring Honor rally in Washington, DC. Glenn admonished each of us to go back to our homes and pray for 40 days and 40 nights asking God to help restore honor to our personal lives, and for God to use us to restore honor to the USA.
I took the challenge and continued to pray. Soon thereafter, I heard a story about how the residents of Frankenmuth, Michigan had solved a problem in their little town by placing white crosses in their front yards. I couldn't stop thinking about this idea and I knew that was what God wanted me to do.
I would like to share this story with you so that you will see why I took the challenge to seize upon a mere idea in hopes of inspiring a nationwide movement. The story came to me in the form of an email, which ended up being forwarded to Christians throughout the world. I even received it twice in just two weeks.
The Frankenmuth Crosses
A woman who regularly drove through the small picturesque town of Frankenmuth, Michigan was deeply touched by the powerful message conveyed by hundreds of small crosses placed in people's front yards. She felt it was a tribute to the Christian values of the community and she felt safe when she drove through their town. But she was curious about the crosses and asked a resident why almost everyone had placed a white cross in their yard. The lady explained that back in 2008, a man living in Frankenmuth complained about two crosses on the town bridge because he was offended by their presence. The town was forced to remove them. This individual then decided that the city shield should be changed to remove a heart with a cross inside that signified the city's Lutheran beginnings.
The people of Frankenmuth decided they had had enough. Hundreds of residents decided to protest his demands by placing crosses in their front yards. Seeing this quiet but powerful statement from the community, the man removed his complaint. Those simple crosses remain in the front yards of Frankenmuth today.
After hearing this story, I decided it would be a beautiful thing to see white crosses all across America. I have designed two beautiful, durable and weather resistant white crosses in different sizes. One cross is made of marble-like resin; the other of durable aluminum, painted white.
All crosses are engraved with IN GOD WE TRUST or GOD BLESS AMERICA.
The 20" cross is designed for the front yard or garden; the 14" cross is designed to hang on your front door, on a wall, or in a window; and the 5" cross can hang anywhere, even in your car on the rearview mirror or as a Christmas tree ornament. Freedom crosses are ideal to place on the graves of loved ones, especially those who fought and died to preserve the liberty and freedom we Americans enjoy today!
The people of Frankenmuth stood together to make a powerful statement in defense of the fundamental values of our founding fathers. Now all Americans have an opportunity to stand with them by placing a Freedom Cross on their personal property for the whole world to see! Let's join together and put GOD back into America.
It takes just one person, one church, one community to forward this movement and inspire others.
May God bless you and your family and may God bless America.
