Faith Under Fire

FAITH UNDER FIRE Florida city spies on churches, demands licenses ‘This Sunday is your last Sunday’ image: http://www.wnd.com/files/2012/03/Jay-Baggett_avatar.jpg Jay Baggett Jay Baggett came to WND in 2004, having previously worked as an executive at the Sacramento Union and as an agricultural remote-sensing researcher with the University of California. Also, he spent twelve years working in California electoral politics. Baggett holds a bachelor of arts degree in geography and environmental studies and a master of arts in geography. He is active in his church and a hands-on grandfather. When time permits, he pursues his passions of cooking and Bible geography.   Pastor Mike Olive, Common Ground Church A Florida city’s code-enforcement division, which was subject in 2013 to a scathing audit for falsifying inspections, employing unqualified inspectors and failing to clean up nuisance properties, has now decided to go after churches. The City of Lake Worth, in Palm Beach County, has taken the position all churches are required to obtain a “business license” to conduct worship services. It is using city employees to covertly attend services and acquire evidence, including video, “for future court presentation.” City-code enforcement officer, Gerard A. Coscia – wearing a hoodie – was sent to the Common Ground Church on Feb. 9 to clandestinely film the worship service, reported the Examiner. The following Sunday, Coscia returned to the church, which meets in the Coffee Grounds Coffee Bar, handed his business card to pastor Mike Olive and told him, “This Sunday is your last Sunday.” Olive said he had never received a notice from the city for any violation of any local law, and only learned a...

Story Of The Crosses

Freedom Crosses USA Let’s join together and take a stand to put GOD back into America and restore the values of our founding fathers by placing Freedom Crosses in our front yard or garden or hang them on our front door, on a wall, in a window, in our car, or on our Christmas tree. Freedom crosses are engraved with In God We Trust or God Bless America. THE INSPIRATION BEHIND FREEDOM CROSSES USA    Dear Fellow Americans: I wish to share with you what inspired me to create Freedom Crosses USA.  Over the last few years, I have become deeply concerned about the denial of any reference to God or prayer in our public institutions, as well as the dwindling visible symbols of Christian beliefs in our country.  I am sure there are many other Americans who feel the same way. It is time that patriotic Americans and Christians take a stand to demonstrate our love of country and our faith and belief in God to the world before our freedoms are further challenged. In my daily prayers, I have been asking God to use me in a meaningful way to help restore honor to our great nation and to preserve our cherished freedoms.  On August 28, 2010, I attended Glenn Beck’s “Restoring Honor” rally in Washington, DC.  Glenn admonished each of us to go back to our homes and pray for 40 days and 40 nights asking God to help restore honor to our personal lives, and for God to use us to restore honor to the USA.  I took the challenge and continued to pray.  Soon thereafter,...

The Prayer

Conservativebyte.com Vision to America is a division of Christian Worldview Communications, LLC. Established in 2006. Vision to America exists to help America return to our Founding Father’s vision for a Christian Republic. America was once a light to the world–a place that God blessed with liberty and prosperity. Today, Americans are taught that the Almighty State has all the answers. As a result, our God-given liberties are being traded for an imaginary sense of security. It is our Vision to see Americans once again recognize that we are endowed by our Creator with certain unalienable rights and that this Creator is the God of the Bible.   Hi Lord, It’s me. We are getting older and things are getting bad here. Gas prices are too high, no jobs, food and heating costs too high. I know some have taken you out of our schools, government and even Christmas, but Lord I’m asking you to come back and re-bless America.  We really need you! There are more of us who want you than those who don’t! Thank You Lord, I Love you.   “Life without God is like an unsharpened pencil – it has no...

In God We Trust

“In God We Trust” is our national motto. It’s actually a law, signed into effect in 1956 by President Dwight D. Eisenhower. How, then, is it suddenly so controversial? And why does a very vocal minority seem to wield such power? Lea Carawan, Executive Director of the Congressional Prayer Caucus Foundation, discusses the campaign to draw attention to this issue by placing “In God We Trust” decals on a million windows. Read more at http://therealside.com/2014/08/in-god-we-trust/#Mm8kCH0xcdUygt8r.99 Let me start by saying, I understand that there is a physical war In the Middle East on Jews. But what I am dealing with here is the on-going war in this country on Christians. You separation-of-church-and-state people seem to be very silent on favors provided to other religions, yet start foaming at the mouth when the words “cross,” “Bible,” “Christ,“or any scriptures are used. A few weeks ago, the Freedom from Religion Freaks (aka: Freedom from Religion Foundation – FFRF) lost a lawsuit they filed against the 9/11 Memorial Museum. They claimed that displaying the cross that was left at the bottom of the rubble (not manmade) that served as a symbol of hope to the first responders, Jews, Christians, Atheists and others during that tragedy was a clear violation of the separation of church and state. Once again, they were wrong. The courts sided with the American people and said that not only was it a symbol of hope, but it was part of our national heritage and history. They said, “[Given] the absence of any evidence of ulterior religious motives, and the undisputed historical significance of The Cross at Ground Zero,...

George Washington’s Prayer

George Washington’s Prayer ‘Almighty God; We make our earnest prayer that Thou wilt keep the United States in Thy holy protection; that Thou wilt incline the hearts of the citizens to cultivate a spirit of subordination and obedience to government; and entertain a brotherly affection and love for one another and for their fellow citizens of the United States at large. And finally that Thou wilt most graciously be pleased to dispose us all to do justice, to love mercy, and to demean ourselves with that charity, humility, and pacific temper of mind which were the characteristics of the Divine Author of our blessed religion, and without a humble imitation of whose example in these things we can never hope to be a happy nation. Grant our supplication, we beseech Thee, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.’ Laus...

Freedom Community 4th of July

July 1, 2011 – What Silent Calvin Coolidge Said About the Fourth of July The late president believed American freedom had religious roots – by Leon Kass Parades. Backyard barbecues. Fireworks. This is how many of us will celebrate the Fourth of July. In earlier times, the day was also marked with specially prepared orations celebrating our founding principles, a practice that has disappeared without notice. It is a tribute to a polity dedicated to securing our rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness that we can enjoy our freedoms while taking them for granted, giving little thought to what makes them possible. But this inattention comes at a heavy price, paid in increased civic ignorance and decreased national attachment—both dangerous for a self-governing people. For an antidote to such thoughtlessness, one cannot do better than President Calvin Coolidge’s remarkable address, delivered to mark the 150th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence in 1926. While he celebrated the authors of our founding document, Coolidge argued that it “represented the movement of a people . . . a great mass of independent, liberty-loving, God-fearing people who knew their rights, and possessed the courage to dare to maintain them.” History is replete with the births (and deaths) of nations. But the birth of the United States was unique because it was, and remains, a nation founded not on ties of blood, soil or ethnicity, but on ideas, held as self-evident truths: that all men are created equal; they are endowed with certain inalienable rights; and, therefore, the just powers of government, devised to safeguard those rights, must be derived...

The Frankenmuth Crosses

A woman who regularly drove through the small picturesque town of Frankenmuth, Michigan was deeply touched by the powerful message conveyed by hundreds of small crosses placed in people’s front yards. She felt it was a tribute to the Christian values of the community and she felt safe when she drove through their town. But she was curious about the crosses and asked a resident why almost everyone had placed a white cross in their yard. The lady explained that back in 2008, a man living in Frankenmuth complained about two crosses on the town bridge because he was offended by their presence. The town was forced to remove them.   This individual then decided that the city shield should be changed to remove a heart with a cross inside that signified the city’s Lutheran beginnings. The people of Frankenmuth decided they had had enough. Hundreds of residents decided to protest his demands by placing crosses in their front yards. Seeing this quiet but powerful statement from the community, the man removed his complaint. Those simple crosses remain in the front yards of Frankenmuth today. After hearing this story, Mary King decided it would be a beautiful thing to see white crosses all across America. She founded Freedom Crosses USA and designed two beautiful, durable and weather resistant white crosses in different sizes.  One cross is made of marble-like resin; the other of durable aluminum, painted white.  All crosses are engraved with IN GOD WE TRUST or GOD BLESS AMERICA. The 20″ cross is designed for the front yard or garden; the 14″ cross is designed to hang on your...
